Editorial principles

Sources, dates and uncertainty

Stories link to sources and state study dates. A recent news report about an older study is identified as such. We describe the extent of source review.

Limits of the findings

Observational associations are not presented as proof of causation. Animal or laboratory experiments are not evidence of successful treatment in humans. Small samples, self-reporting and other important limitations are explained.

Artificial intelligence and images

AI tools may assist with content preparation. Some images on VitalHaber are created with the help of artificial intelligence for illustrative purposes, and this is indicated alongside the relevant image. These images are not photographs documenting real research participants, clinical outcomes or events as they happened.

Corrections

Factual errors are corrected. Corrections affecting meaning or conclusions are explained and dated in the relevant story. Unsupported content is not published.

Independence and reader data

Sponsored content, if introduced, will be clearly identified. Newsletter subscription is optional and separate from account membership. Your email address is used to verify your subscription and send you the newsletter you subscribed to. Your subscription becomes active when you confirm it using the verification link in the email. Health information

Stories are not individual medical advice. Changes to medicines or treatment should be discussed with a health professional who knows the person’s circumstances.
